Outlook Sync Profile Scenarios

There are different ways how to connect IceWarp account with Outlook. You can use your existing Outlook profile and bind the IceWarp account to it or create a new one.

• In Step 4 – SmartDiscover of installation wizard, you can check the Create profile checkbox. It will automatically create the Outlook profile with Outlook Sync add-in.

• If you uncheck Create profile, you can still continue with installation and create the profile later via Profile manager.

• Also, you can still work with existing Outlook profile and use Bind Profile to connect it to the IceWarp account directly from Outlook.

The diagram below will help you decide whether to create a new Outlook profile or use the old one.

Create new profile

If you use Outlook profile with IMAP account, we recommend creating a new Outlook Sync profile. Outlook Sync requires POP3 Outlook account to work flawlessly.

Run Outlook Sync.exe installer wizard and choose one of the options:

• Regular profile that synchronizes emails, as well as calendar, contacts, notes, and other groupware.

• Groupware only profile that synchronizes only groupware. Select this option if you want to access your emails with POP3 and not with IMAP. Also, if you need to synchronize only your groupware between the IceWarp and Outlook servers. This groupware only profile will contain newly created POP3 account that targets the IceWarp server and downloads messages.

Use existing profile

Binding.

If you already have Outlook profile with POP3 account and you want to bind it with your IceWarp account, make sure that POP3 account is set as default.

1. In the installation wizard, uncheck Create profile to install only Outlook Sync program files.

2. When installation is complete, open Outlook and select the Outlook profile with POP3 account and Bind IceWarp account with the help of Outlook Sync.

3. After Outlook restarts, the bound account will be operated by Outlook Sync together with its Personal Folders.

4. If Outlook Sync detects that Personal Folders already contains items, it will ask whether you want to delete them, or upload them to the IceWarp server.

If you have a profile with IMAP account only and you want to bind it with Outlook Sync:

1. Create a POP3 account and make it default.

2. Bind the new POP3 account IceWarp account. See How to add POP3 account for more details.
