Appearance

In the Appearance tab, you can change the language, set the desktop notification and sound effects when a new mail arrives, etc.

Description

Language

Select a language from the list.

Show desktop notification

Check if you want to receive notifications about incoming messages.

Hide notification after (seconds)

Set time for notifications display.

Play sound when new message arrives

Check to receive sound notification about a new message.

Select sound file

Click to browse for the appropriate file. It should be in .wav format 1 – 1.5 second long. 

Default sound

Check to have the default sound played.

Test sound

Click to test the sound.

Handle read receipts

Check to have the read receipts handled.

Handling

Select a mode from the list:

  • Ask me before sending a response. Select if you want to be asked whether a read confirmation should be sent after reading an email message (in case a message sender has requested it)

  • Always send a response: a read confirmation will be sent automatically (in case a message sender has requested it)

  • Never send a response: a read confirmation will never be sent

Content of the read receipt

Click Edit to change read receipt text in simple editor.

You can use variables:

  • %TO%: extracts a recipient from the original message (your name or email address in this case) and uses it in the appropriate place

  • %SUBJECT%: extracts a subject from the original message and uses it in the appropriate place

  • %SENT%: shows the time (date) when the original message was sent

  • %READ%: shows the time (date) when the original message was read

    Click Default to return to the original (default) text.

Display Address Book names as

Select the way you want to have Address Book names displayed:

  • Numbered structure: reflects server folder structure

  • Folder name only: shows contact folders in alphabetical order

  • Full folder path: shows folder names, including parent folder names (if applicable)

  • Manual handling (turned off): Address Book names structure is fully controlled by Outlook
